Cable System

Exclusively optical fibre based connections.

The Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre Submarine Cable System was established in 1999 creating a Fibre Optical Gateway between Europe to the Caucasus region - Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaidjan - and onwards to Iran, Central Asia and East Asia.

The System is equipped with 16chs 40Gbit/s DWDM transmission system, supplied by Alcatel Submarine Networks. The System is jointly owned and operated by Rostelecom, Russia, FOPTNET, Georgia and DanTelco, Denmark.

The System connects Novorossisk in Russia and Poti in Georgia. It provides onwards access:

- via Rostelecom's terrestrial optical fibre network to Kasakhstan, China, Mongolia, Japan and others,
To Europe (such as Finland, Baltic States, Belarus, Ukraine) and to European IP centers in Stockholm, Sweden, London, United Kingdom and Frankfurt am Main, Germany and East Asia via the Trans Europe Asia (TEA) optical fibre transmission system.

- via FOPTNET's terrestrial optical fibre network onwards to the Causacus region (Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaidjan), Iran, Kasahkstan, Central Asian Republics (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan).

Operators may either lease capacity or obtain Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) for the lifetime of the System. Available capacity from 2 Mbit/sec.

We offer a wide range of high speed services (1GE, 10GE and 40GE) such as managed bandwidth and IP transit services.
